DIY family shoe organizer

I had these old organizing shelves sitting in my closet,
serving no purpose at all, so I decided to transform them into something useful!

I got this

and spray painted a couple coats.

On my quest for good deals on organization containers and bins last month, I came across a killer deal on canvas bins at Wal Mart and pretty much bought them out of them.  I LOVE them!
So, now we each have a place to put our shoes when we come inside.  It looks SO much better than the heap of shoes we used to have greeting us at our front door.

My next step will be adding each of our names with vinyl:)

Tie Onesies...

I made these for my friends baby boy.  You can find the tie tutorial and pattern on Crap I've Made.  The bowtie was basically one large rectangle and one small rectangle.  Pretty Simple to make, and so cute!

Simplify, Beautify, Fortify!

It seems that most of my best inspiration and personal revelation comes in the middle of the night or early in the morning.  This past week as I was thinking about the creation of this blog, I woke up early in the morning with three words on my mind: Simplify, Beautify, and Fortify.  Thus, the focus of our blog!

SIMPLIFY because we would like to simplify our lives and find and share ideas on ways to make our lives less complicated, wether it's a simple recipe or great ways to organize our homes.

BEAUTIFY because we like to beautify our homes and everything around us!  We would like to share with you our ideas or finds on diy projects, crafts, and everything beautiful!

FORTIFY because we face challenges in our daily lives.  Our own personal testimony and faith will fortify us and strengthen us.  This aspect of our blog allows us to share faith building experiences and also to share ideas on fortifying our marriages, families, and our lives.  These will include dating ideas, fun activities to do as a family, FHE ideas, etc.

Coming up with these three topics was such a great experience for me, as I realized that I needed this for my own personal scripture study.  For some time now, I have had the desire to get more out of my scripture study.  Through the creation of this blog, I have been able to think about the things that matter most to me in life and the things I would like to build upon in my life.  I know my Father in Heaven knows the desires of my heart, because now I have three great subjects to focus on that I am truly interested in and excited about!
The first article I came across when I dove into my studying that morning was a talk by Barbara Thompson given in the October 2011 general conference.  The talk is titled "Personal Revelation and Testimony."    I have committed to myself that I am going to search the scriptures more diligently and study with a focus as I try to make my daily reading more meaningful to me in my life.
